LAPS
2026 | Nantes
Located in Hall 4 of the Nantes Exhibition Centre, Le LAPS is a modular venue designed to host live performances and events. It provides an alternative to the Cité des Congrès auditorium during its renovation, while also offering the region a new mid-capacity venue.
To support the opening of this temporary venue, GL events Audiovisual & Power teams provided their expertise across two key areas: sound reinforcement and ambient and safety lighting.

CLIENT NEEDS
The temporary nature of the LAPS means that the technical installations must be adapted to a new layout, whilst ensuring the levels of performance and operational simplicity expected in a performance venue.
The aim is to provide a coherent, functional temporary venue that is fully suited to hosting performances, from the audience experience to the working conditions of the technical teams.
OUR TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS
-
Adapting the existing sound system
Part of the sound system from the previous venue was transferred to Le LAPS. The challenge was therefore to supplement the existing system and adapt it to the acoustics and configuration of the temporary venue.
In addition to supplying the equipment, GL events Audiovisual & Power teams carried out the system tuning and supported the on-site teams to ensure efficient operation of the new configuration.
-
Lighting designed for the venue’s different spaces
The lighting solution addresses two key requirements: providing ambient and safety lighting suited to the venue’s different areas, while also offering a flexible control system capable of meeting a variety of operational needs.
More than one hundred lighting fixtures were installed to provide ambient lighting throughout the auditorium and seating areas.
Behind the grandstand, 22 PROLIGHTS Solar 27Q RGBW fixtures provide additional ambient lighting, while a DENEB white/blue LED Strip solution provides guidance lighting behind the grandstand and backstage.
The storage area is equipped with 8 PROLIGHTS EclSoft Linear IP fixtures, while 32 battery-powered ASTERA Titan Tubes provide ambient and safety lighting in the grandstand access areas.
The installation is completed by 28 emergency exit lighting units and 8 ambient emergency lighting units, providing safety lighting throughout the venue.
-
Comprehensive expertise for cultural venues
The project also involved the installation of a 1,900-seat indoor grandstand, designed to accommodate all audiences, including dedicated platforms for people with reduced mobility. The structure also incorporates the spaces required for the venue’s technical operations.
Beyond the grandstand, the project included the design and fit-out of all interior spaces, structuring the venue around its different uses: hospitality areas, technical control room, storage areas, bar, first-aid room, dressing rooms and artists’ entrance.
From supplying equipment to setting up the sound system, as well as installing lighting and designing the control systems, GL events Audiovisual & Power supports theatres and cultural venues in creating and adapting their technical installations.
